The Chef
Welcome to my page, my name is Vannak Phou, proud father of my wonderful family. We live in a modest house in the outskirt of Battambang city where my cooking class takes place.

After 18 years experience I can say, I saw how the catering have changed in Cambodia. So I decided to raise my passion to another level. Transmit the legacy of the traditional Khmer cuisine in my classes which is the heart & soul of what I do. I was growing up in a cooking family, learned how to prepare my parent’s recipes, I’m very grateful for this heritage and I would love to spread this knowledge to everyone.

As I mentioned before, this change is coming from the western design (fast food for instance) and the new ingredients which are coming mostly from other Asian countries - like the soya, oyster sauce, ketchup… Unfortunately, that made a big difference how people see our traditional Khmer cuisine. However, it is based on mostly garlic, lemongrass, kaffir, fish sauce and palm sugar...

We opened a small stand in the night market, where you can taste our authentic dishes, and in our class learn how to prepare them.
